Enhance the Requirement management/Inspections

Request, after introducing, Inspection Configurarion, Hierachy Configuration and Inspection groups.

ComplyPro from Bentley should be merge into a module name Requirements management, that would allow tracking ( see below):

  • Client expectations

  • Functional requirements

  • etc....

Instead of burry inspection under Work, it may be usefull to have a full dedicated module for requirements management

🔍 What is Requirements Management?

Requirements management is the process of capturing, analyzing, documenting, validating, and tracking the needs and expectations of stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a project. It ensures that the final deliverables meet the intended purpose and that changes are controlled and traceable.

🏗️ In AEC Projects

In AEC, requirements management helps align the design, construction, and operation phases with:

  • Client expectations (e.g., building performance, sustainability goals)

  • Regulatory compliance (e.g., building codes, safety standards)

  • Technical specifications (e.g., materials, systems, BIM requirements)

Example:

A hospital project might have requirements like:

  • 100 patient rooms with natural light

  • HVAC systems that meet specific air quality standards

  • Compliance with local fire safety codes

These requirements must be tracked from design through construction to handover.

🏭 In Manufacturing Projects

In manufacturing, requirements management ensures that the product design and production processes meet:

  • Functional requirements (what the product must do)

  • Performance requirements (how well it must do it)

  • Compliance requirements (industry standards, safety regulations)

Example:

For a new electric vehicle, requirements might include:

  • Battery range of 500 km

  • Charging time under 30 minutes

  • Compliance with ISO 26262 (functional safety)

🔄 Key Activities in Requirements Management

  1. Elicitation – Gathering needs from stakeholders, users, regulations, etc.

  2. Documentation – Writing clear, testable, and traceable requirements.

  3. Validation – Ensuring requirements are feasible and aligned with goals.

  4. Change Management – Handling updates without losing control or traceability.

  5. Traceability – Linking requirements to design, tests, and deliverables.

Relate to this, the inspection plan that require those details for each element being inspeted

🧪 What is an Inspection Plan in Project Context?

An inspection plan is a structured document or digital workflow that defines what needs to be inspected, when, how, and by whom—to ensure that project deliverables meet quality, safety, and compliance requirements.

🔧 In Manufacturing Projects:

  • Focuses on product quality and process control

  • Includes inspection points during production (e.g., dimensional checks, material tests)

  • Often tied to ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or Six Sigma practices

🏗️ In AEC Projects:

  • Ensures construction quality, code compliance, and client specifications

  • Covers materials, installations, workmanship, and system commissioning

  • May be linked to BIM models, specifications, or regulatory approvals

📋 Key Components of an Inspection Plan

Element

Description

Inspection Item

What is being inspected (e.g., concrete pour, HVAC unit, weld)

Acceptance Criteria

Standards or tolerances to meet (e.g., ASTM, CSA, project specs)

Inspection Method

How it will be verified (visual, measurement, test, etc.)

Frequency

When and how often (e.g., per batch, per floor, per milestone)

Responsible Party

Who performs or witnesses the inspection (contractor, QA, third party)

Documentation

Forms, photos, reports, or digital records (e.g., via ProjectWise or BIM)

Non-Conformance Handling

What happens if it fails (e.g., rework, NCR, escalation)

To take into account, the breakdown and the capapbility to link document/document set to maintain the digital chain

Another key aspect of comply pro. allow to connect to goverment database.

In the maufacturing, for the car industry, Teamcener si allow to connect to NHTSA to make sure that new car being desing meet regulations.

the same could be done for construction as i'm sure all goverment, state, city have similar code.

    Canada has https://nrc.canada.ca/en/certifications-evaluations-standards/codes-canada/codes-canada-publications/national-building-code-canada-2020

    United States has https://www.nist.gov/buildings-construction/understanding-building-codes

    Code by state

Inpsection are require for all kind of equipement, services, matérials etc...

Example we have hydraulique cyclinders that support heavy charge for long period of time and require regular inspection or recalibration. This could as well be for sensor (charge sensor)

Adding to the request above, the production and field team will be require Inisghts about all aspect of inspections activity whihc fall under the QA departement.

This involve as well a dashoard to navigate into the inspection insights.

The new cesium map is a good start. if we could couple a visual dashboard to ease the navigation.

As of now we have solution that require several systems to be configure and interface to create inspection and get inisghts.

    GIS Application

    Microsoft SQL Server

    Microsoft Power Automate

    Microsoft Power BI

    Microsoft SharePoint

    Adobe PDF Services API

    Low code solution for automation

We are looking at centralizing all this into a single module
