The idea behind this request is to make the most of the Infrastructure Cloud functionalities by connecting them together. Typically, projects have different requirements in terms of Document Management, and the effort that re-configuring the PW Administrator Workflow Rules Engine is too big to deliver the needed configuration on time. Also, PWDI does not provide good email notifications for documents, while the "Forms" functionality does.
Knowing that we have a special form type in Infrastructure cloud for design document review, to create a new design review of one or multiple files in the "Documents" area, the user would open the context action menu and have the option to create a "New design review" (like it was available in ProjectWise 365). This would create a form instance linked to the documents chosen. This form has its own workflow and possible actions configured from Infrastructure Cloud —instead of ProjectWise Administrator.
But at this point in time, these actions only affect the form, and not the linked documents. We need the changes to the form status to be sent back to the documents. For example, "when the form reaches the closed status, if the form field "approval-status" (in example) equals to "Approved", the ProjectWise document environment attribute changes to "Approved" as well.
This capability would add great value to Infrastructure Cloud in the following ways:
1. It would bring email notifications on relevant document management events for the users. In the XXIst century, PWDI may be the only DMS without proper email notifications.
2. Users would see the list of "pending tasks" in the Infrastructure Cloud home page for the project, having the Document-related tasks and the rest of the forms available from the same interface.
3. It would make PWDI management easier, allowing to customize better and more intuitively the Workflow Rules Engine for projects with special requirements, without the risk of messing-up with the Rules Engine configuration.
4. It would facilitate the Document Management reporting, as the forms list can be exported to excel very easily, so in case of an audit, Document Managers could simply export the Forms list to excel instead of doing an audit trail report in ProjectWise (it includes too much information by default and customizing it is not as easy as forms is).
This functionality would also bring great benefit to ourorganization and their partners!
This has been a subject of discussions in Bentley (ADO Case: #1289623) and it has been positively considered by Development. User created this Idea based on DEV's suggestion.

My understanding is that using Poweshell, someone could achieve this, in waiting from Bentley to fully deploy a release candidate version of PW that would support this process.
As we wait for ProjectWise Power By iTwing to deploy his full wings, you may want to check ProjectWise Manage Portfolio ( previously BCDE). This seems to have pass under the radar but seems to offer great potential once fully integrated.
