When working with Oklahoma DOT using 3D Design Review they have almost come to the conclusion that creating a form and setting up a workflow doesn't really matter if the workflow does not connect the the actual PW DI document. Or at least have it control the access to the document. A user can go into the 2D sheets in documents from the connected project and just start a review session regardless of the form and it's workflow. The forms are not connected to PW DI like they should be.
This one is a very good idea. Currently, Workflow Rules Engine is hard to maintain, configure, and prone to catastrophic errors.
By Linking PW Forms to Documents using a context menu action (right click -> Forms -> Select form type) would help to create custom review and approval workflows in projects without the risk of breaking WRE.
It would also allow to provide review evidences that some projects demand. Email notifications once and for all. Users would see their pending actions in the connection client and the project's landing page. Reduce the complexities of setting up PowerBI Insights, etc...
I thought we were the only users asking for this, but I'm glad to see that we are on the same page.
Basically does it make sense to create a form for my 2D drawing review process? Right now there are back doors and the forms don't provide anything than a link and status of the review process. It should offer some type of control as well.
