Open XREFS stored in ProjectWise from AutoCAD

Currently when opening a XREF that is referenced into a drawing from AutoCAD, it does not open the ProjectWise drawing file. Instead, it opens the temporary drawing file on the users' local drive.

The same problem for me. I learned to start AutoCAD first and open the file from AutoCAD that starts the dialog window with PW. Doubleklicking on the file opens the localy stored file,

Opening an XREF from the host drawing is a feature that is already integrated with ProjectWise.

    1. Open the External References panel

    2. Right mouse click on the XREF that you want to open

    3. Select Open

Provided the user has PW permission to edit the file, ProjectWise should check out the document and open it in a second tab in the active ACAD application session.

If this is not working for you, please file a service request for more help.
