Opening of Co-Authoring document in the desktop client

When we enable co-Authoring from the web client for an office document, this place a lock on the desktop client. Which force the desktop client to open the document in read only.

Request is,

When a document has Co-Authoring enable, and the user select Open from the desktop client........

He should be given the choice of:

  • Open under Office 365

  • Open in the desktop apps.

If open from the desktop app and no one is working in Co-Authoring mode, then the desktop app could take ownership of the document and check-out the file which disable temporarily co-authoring until the file is checked-in.

If the user decide to open under Office 365, then the co-Authoring continue to be activate to allow multiple users to work on the same document

If a the document is use under a co-Authoring session, the desktop client open the file under Office 365 an he can join the co-Authoring session
