When you click the Audit Trail tab when looking at folder/file properties it immediately launches a query on the Audit Trail using the last customization settings you set.

These are frequently wrong and you must wait for the query to time out before proceeding (especially if your last query was an Anytime query). Additionally I think most people want the report in a new window so it's easier to see all the columns.

Instead I'd prefer if when you click the audit trail the dialog shows current customization settings and 2 buttons, Run Audit Trail (which always opens a new window), Customize Audit Trail.

I think this will cut down a lot on unnecessary queries and be less frustrating.
