Make the functionality of Deliverables Management Connector the same as Infrastructure Cloud Deliverables Management

Currently there are a number of discrepancies between the Deliverables Management Connector in PW Explorer and using Deliverables Management in Infrastructure Cloud.

The two that I'm aware of, and are causing us issues on projects are:

  • Documents cannot be imported from Transmittals within Infrastructure Cloud. This functionality is only available in PW Explorer.

  • Confidential General Correspondence cannot be viewed in Deliverables Management Connector (PW Explorer).

Forcing the user to go to another software package to do one step, while every other step can be done is a very poor user experience, and makes it incredibly difficult to onboard new users.

I'm sure there is other functionality that is missing from one or the other, but these are the two that pop up on every project, and our ProjectWise admins are left to try and explain the complexity to project teams.

Practical use of functionality?
  1. Document Import from Transmittals: Allowing documents to be imported from Transmittals within Infrastructure Cloud would enable users to manage all their deliverables in one place. This would save time and reduce the complexity of the workflow.

  2. Confidential General Correspondence: Enabling the viewing of Confidential General Correspondence in the Deliverables Management Connector (PW Explorer) would ensure that all project-related communications are accessible in one platform, improving transparency and ease of access.

What is the impact of not doing this?
  1. Increased Complexity: Users would continue to face the inconvenience of switching between different software packages, which can be confusing and time-consuming, especially for new users.

  2. Poor User Experience: The fragmented workflow can lead to frustration and a poor user experience, making it harder to onboard new users and potentially leading to lower adoption rates of the software.

  3. Administrative Burden: ProjectWise administrators would need to spend more time explaining the complexities and discrepancies to project teams, which could be better spent on more productive tasks.
