There needs to be an option which "closes" a review session preventing further comments once the review due date passes and sends a notification to the originator that the review is closed
Practical use of functionality?
A review transmittal is issued with a response due date, once that response due date passes, the ability to make further comments is disabled by the reviewers preventing late comments and endless review periods. The transmittal originator receives a notification of a "closed" review so they can make the necessary preparations to incorporate and revise the document based on the comments received during the review window. Should the review need to be extended, it would be handy for the originator to have the option to extend the review for a set period of days if required or close a session early if required. Much like the functionality of Bluebeam Review Sessions |

What is the impact of not doing this?
Leaving responses open even after a due date, runs the risk of reviewers forgetting to review a document, late comments not being incorporated into a next revision, comments being made on an old review with a final version already distributed, but also runs the risk of delaying revisions due to receiving late comments and multiple reworks trying to accommodate late comments. Switching off the ability to make further comments ensures the Document Owner can contractually proceed to the next version of that document in a timely manner, and reviewers make it a priority to review documents within the set review window. |
