Description: Currently, in Bentley InfrastructureCloud, "Work by Items" functions primarily as a grouping mechanism for forms (Work Breakdown Structure - WBS). To link an inspection to a 3D element, users must manually use the "Model Location" field within each individual form.
We propose a direct integration where "Work by Items" can be spatially or logically linked to iModel elements.
Key Features Requested:
Bidirectional Linking: The ability to associate a "Work Item" directly with one or multiple iModel elements.
Automated Context: When a user selects a "Work Item" in an Inspection Form, the "Model Location" should automatically inherit the linked 3D elements from that specific Work Item.
Visual Validation: In the iModel viewer, users should be able to see which "Work Items" are associated with specific geometry, providing a clear visual status of inspections based on the WBS.
Business Value / Justification:
Efficiency: Eliminates redundant manual data entry for every single inspection form.
Data Integrity: Reduces the risk of human error when manually selecting model locations for hundreds of similar elements.
Digital Twin Maturity: Aligns the physical Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with the Digital Twin geometry, allowing for better reporting and project tracking (e.g., "Show me the inspection status of all elements under Work Item X").
Standardization: This is a critical requirement for large-scale infrastructure projects (like Metropolitano de Lisboa) where information flow between departments must be automated and traceable.
